Hat die quadratische Gleichung die Form $ax^2 + bx + c = 0$ (allgemeine Form der quadratischen Gleichung), kann ihre Lösung mit der abc-Formel (Mitternachtsformel) bestimmt werden:
Formel: abc-Formel (Mitternachtsformel)
$x_{1,2} = \dfrac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 -4ac} }{2a}$
Beispiele
Beispiel 1
Löse die Gleichung mit der abc-Formel: $2x^2 + 9x + 7 = 0$
$a$, $b$ und $c$ ablesen:
$a = 2$, $b=9$, $c=7$.
Formel:
$x_{1,2} = \dfrac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 -4ac} }{2a}$
Werte in die Formel einsetzen:
$x_{1,2} = \dfrac{-9 \pm \sqrt{9^2 -4\cdot2\cdot7} }{2\cdot2}$
Ausrechnen:
$x_{1,2} = \dfrac{-9 \pm \sqrt{81 -56} }{4}$
$x_{1,2} = \dfrac{-9 \pm \sqrt{25} }{4}$
$x_{1,2} = \dfrac{-9 \pm 5 }{4}$
$x_1 = \dfrac{-9 + 5 }{4} = \dfrac{-4}{4} = -1$
$x_2 = \dfrac{-9 - 5 }{4} = \dfrac{-14 }{4} = -3,5 $
Lösung:$x_1= -1$ oder $x_2 = -3,5$
Lösung (in der Mengenschreibweise): $L=\{-3,5; -1\}$
